Understanding BH Series number plate !

The Government of India introduced the BH Number Plate or Bharat Series Registration Number for private non-transport vehicles in August 2021. The BH Series number plate removes the requirement of transferring vehicle registration while shifting from one state to the other. The BH Series Number registration process already started from Aug 2021.

For Ex – As per the  Motor Vehicles Act, if your car is registered in Odisha with a OD number plate. If you relocate then you can drive your vehicle with the OD number plate only for a period of 12 months in the new state. After that you will have to register the vehicle in the new state in the concerned state RTO. But in BH Series registration you don’t have to do this process as the new registration process eradicates the need of  re-registration of vehicles in the new state.

Who are eligible for BH Series Number Plate:

• Defense sector

• State and Central Government employees

• Administrative services

• Bank employees

• Private firm employees who have offices in more than four States or Union Territories. 

The actual intention of MORTH to introduce the BH series registration plate is to save the time and energy of the people from the exasperation they face while transferring the registration each time they go to new city.
